Established in 1996 to commemorate a teacher’s passion for history and belief that every student should have an intimate knowledge of the city, this award encourages undergraduate and postgraduate students to study diverse aspects of Hong Kong’s rich and complex history. It is the most prestigious award in undergraduate and postgraduate history studies and has been a benchmark for excellence. Applicants are evaluated on their academic achievement and research impact, including the extent to which their work has been transformed by scientific advancement.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE has encouraged world-class scientists to come to Hong Kong for further development of their research and technology. It is open to research fields in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, including artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and energy, advanced manufacturing, and FinTech. The judging panel is responsible for suggesting important scientific research fields to be awarded, evaluating the scientific achievements of candidates, and overseeing compliance with the Prize charter.

In order to win this prestigious prize, you must submit a complete manuscript that meets the following requirements. Submissions will be reviewed by a team of experts in their field. The awardees will be selected based on their research and the extent to which it has had a significant impact in enhancing the international reputation of the research field. The prizes will be awarded to a single individual or group of individuals, and no more than five people per award field.

The HKPAD will provide research funding of up to $1.5 million over two years for up to five awardees in each of 10 fields. Besides the monetary reward, winners also have the opportunity to carry out their research in laboratories of Hong Kong universities and institutes. Moreover, they will get an opportunity to meet with leading scholars in their field.

HKPAD has been holding international conventions since 1997 to bring together researchers, policymakers and practitioners to discuss the latest developments in the area of Asia. Its biennial conferences have attracted more than 20,000 Asian and overseas participants from different disciplines. The 2023 conference will be held in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

The HKPAD also organizes research grants for scholars and students who are interested in topics on Asia. In addition, it publishes a number of books and journals on various topics related to the area. The HKPAD is a non-profit organization.
