The NUS Singapore History Prize is a biennial award given by the Department of History at NUS. It was established in 2014 through an endowed gift by an anonymous donor. The prize aims to recognise works that explore important aspects of the Singapore story. It is open to authors from any country and of any nationality.

The first prize is $50,000 Singapore dollars. The winner will receive a certificate, a medallion, and an exhibition tour of the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The shortlisted books will also be publicly announced and featured on the program website.

A healthy civil society depends on individuals who are committed to their communities and who, at pivotal moments, will put the common good before their own interests. The Harvard Prize Book acknowledges and encourages such altruism. Its citation reads:

In addition to the main prizes, there are three special awards for young people. The first is for young writers who have written a work that contributes to the understanding of Singapore. The second is for students who have excelled in a subject that reflects a Singapore identity. And the third is for those who have displayed exceptional leadership skills in a particular field.

Previously, fiction competed with poetry for one top prize. This year, the competition offers 12 top prizes of up to $10,000 for writing in Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil. The winners will also get a trophy and a gift code for the audiobook platform Storytel.

The winners of the main prizes will be honoured at a gala ceremony in November at the National Museum of Singapore. The other two special awards will be presented at a separate gala event.

SINGAPORE PRIZE FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 2023 – The prize is jointly awarded by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Singapore International Graduate Award – Fully Funded with living stipend and all university and college fees

The Singapore International Graduate Award is an alliance between A*STAR, NTU, NUS, SUTD and other leading universities in Asia. It is designed to help Singaporeans and foreigners pursue Ph.Ds in Asia, establish global links and take their research careers to greater heights.

The SIG awards will be presented to the winners in a ceremony at the National Museum of Singapore on 11 November. The other award is the Youth Critic Award, which will be handed out at a special event hosted by the Critics Circle. This will be followed by a series of local activations that the public can attend. The event will mark the start of Earthshot Week, a global initiative to accelerate solutions and bring about tangible action to repair the planet. The festival will feature a programme of films, talks and activities aimed at encouraging the public to join in. During the week, people can participate in online and local activations to explore and learn more about the challenges facing our planet and the opportunities for them to contribute.
