The singapore prize is a biennial award presented by the National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS) to recognise outstanding published works of non-fiction, poetry or fiction in any of the four official languages of the country – Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil. The award was first established in 1995, with the aim of promoting and celebrating Singapore literature. The prize was also designed to be a catalyst for greater public interest in the history of the nation.
A prize committee will be appointed to decide on the winner of the 2024 Singapore History Prize, which is open to anyone around the world who has published work that significantly enhances the understanding and appreciation of the Singapore story. Submissions may be in the form of non-fiction or fiction, and can be either published or written online. They must be about Singapore’s history, with clear historical themes. They can be in any language but must be translated into English. The prize panel is chaired by NUS Asia Research Institute distinguished fellow Kishore Mahbubani and will include a historian, novelist and economist.

Actors Cate Blanchett and Donnie Yen, singer Lana Condor and actor Nomzano Mbatha, along with Australian wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, handed out prizes to five winners in categories including nature protection, clean air, ocean revival and waste elimination.
